Media release: National award for local law firm

Toukley and Erina based law firm, Ryan & Seton Lawyers, took out the 2019 Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year category at the prestigious Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards last Friday at The Star, Sydney. Nominated as finalists in this category for the second year running, the firm won this year against nine other finalists from around the nation.

Hosted in partnership with UNSW Law, the Australian Law Awards is the pinnacle awards program for the nation’s legal profession. Now in its 19th year, the awards recognise brilliance at the bar, legal in-house powerhouses, innovators and various firm-led pro bono programs. The Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year award recognises outstanding performance by a law firm operating in regional, remote or suburban Australia.

“We are thrilled and humbled beyond belief to have won this award,” said solicitor director, Michael Seton. “All the credit must go to our incredible team. This is due recognition for the care, attention to detail and quality of legal solutions they provide day in, day out. We are also proud to be flying the flag for all firms and businesses on the Central Coast that continue to build on the region’s reputation for outstanding professional services.”

Since taking over the existing Toukley practice owned by Tony Ryan’s father, John, in October 2013, the firm has delivered on their motto of ‘Strength & Flexibility’; strength in representation and flexibility in their approach.

Genuinely passionate about law and helping people, Michael Seton and Tony Ryan are the youngest directors of all law firms on the Central Coast and lead a dynamic, progressive team with an average age of 29 that has more than doubled in size from eight to seventeen in the past three years. The firm is also committed to giving back. In the past twelve months they have conducted a number of pro bono family law property matters for local victims of domestic violence and provided initial pro bono advice to other clients who were also victims of domestic violence. This is in addition to the firm’s commitment to volunteering with, and sponsoring, a range of community organisations and initiatives.

This latest accolade adds to Ryan & Seton Lawyers’ growing swag of award wins. It is their first national award. They are currently finalists for Outstanding Professional Services while Michael Seton is a finalist for Outstanding Business Person of the Year at the upcoming Central Coast Local Business Awards.
